Robert Beck (1918-1992), alias Iceberg Slim, was a famous black pimp in Chicago during 4o’ and 5o’. He published several novels widely inspired by its life. Trick Baby, Pimp and Mama Black Widow constitute the “Ghetto’s trilogy“.
Be immersed in this trilogy means be immersed in the ghetto in Chicago during the coming and growing black emancipation. To be a pimp was a solution to earn much money than white people, the ‘symbolic reference‘… It’s to be immersed in the world of pimping, understand the relation(ship) between the pimp and his ‘girls’.
