"Leg godt"

It’s not without emotion I write this article. Lego was my favorite game when I was young (more than 20 years ago… don’t smile, this fact  it’s not very funny to say). I always think that one of the most clever games that has ever been created.
The danish company was founded in «1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen. The Company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder. ». The head office is settled in Billund, Denmark.

The LEGO brick with its tubes (as interlocking principle) is the central piece of LEGO products and offers. The brick in its present form was launched in 1958.  How many hours I could spend on playing with these brick. I remember building the Challenger navet to go to space with its articulated … hum… ok, ok,ok….

Lego mindstorms is one of the most evoluated robotic building system for individuals. The robot is made up of the followings elements:
¬ The NXT or the robot brain
¬ Touch sensor
¬ Sound sensor
¬ Light sensor
¬ Ultrasonic sensor
¬ Servo motors

Just fascinating and beautiful! Don’t you think so?

Lego Mindstorms NXT

The LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT software enables people to program NXT robotic invention and upload theirs programs to the NXT via USB or Bluetooth connectivity.
The LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Software is powered by NI LabVIEW.

LEGO Factory :: LDD – Lego Digital Designer

The LEGO Digital Design software is a amazing complementary tool for creative people who want to create customized LEGO buildings, engins, or robots. The software aims at chosing LEGO bricks and elements, at animating its own creation and at visualizing created models in 3D environment.

I will come back on this software and its features soon. I really persuaded that this software may be a real tool for prototyping.

Lego Serious Play

The Lego Serious Play^TM concept confirm what I think about game in your world. Despite the traditional critics about (digital) game especially the impact on children, game concepts, technologies and (r)evolution simply lead  design, web and digital innovation.

In the same phylosophy as serious game, Lego Serious Play^TM is « an experiential process designed to enhance innovation and business performance, based on research that shows that this kind of hands-on, minds-on learning produces a deeper, more meaningful understanding of the world and its possibilities ».

I coul have spoken about LEGO education, Duplo and more. I could have spoken about this game as educational tool. Of course I think of my daughter and my second coming daughter. But it’s too soon to have feedbacks about how I expecte to take advantage of LEGO bricks in my educational approach for my children. In few monthes perhaps. Who knows?

Obviously I passionately recommend this experience.
