Aviary, revolutionary?

The Aviary set of online applications is a wonderful project initiated in 2oo7 (?) by the founders of Worth1000.com, a community of 500,000 digital artists. Aviary applications are a suite of online design tools that emulate desktop applications and let you transfer work from one application to another.
I subscribed to the beta application subscription as soon as I discovered it. I was fascinated by the ambition of this project. Technically I was very surprised – in a positive way of course – by the fact that this company decided to include the actionscript language and the haXe technology in the set of their technologies panel. As Flex developer, this project was in real harmony with what I think of the Adobe technology. Today the success is present. A proof, the nomination to the Cnet news Webware 2oo9.
Before illustrating the current available free applications, I would like to mention the Firefox extension Talon with is a complementary screen capture tool.
Is Aviary the future main Adobe competitor?
By the way, what I like is the bird graphical line, the colored web site, the coherent graphical guideline, the professional technical approach of web technology and the excellent documentation. I will give you the desire to explore Aviary tools by reducing text and giving you more visual information… Let’s go!
Peacock

Peacock is visual laboratory. The UI (User Interace) is very interesting. I already saw it for a Papervision3D complementary tool IDE. As a proof of the Aviary excellent documentation, explore the Peacock wiki. Adobe has no equivalent product.
Phoenix

Phoenix application is an image editor. The Adobe equivalent software is Photoshop.
Raven

Raven is vector editor. The Adobe equivalent software is Illustrator.
Toucan

Toucan is a color palette. The Adobe equivalent application is Kuler.
Others planed applications
¬ Eagle, Pixel pattern recognition
¬ Horus
¬ Hummingbird, 3D modeler
¬ Ibis, Font creator
¬ Myna, Audio editor
¬ Owl, Desktop publishing
¬ Penguin, Word processor
¬ Pigeon, Painting simulator
¬ Roc, Music generator
¬ Starling, Video editor
¬ Tern, Terrain generator
¬ Woodpecker, Smart image resizer
Stay tuned with the aviary! Go to the Aviary’s blog. And discover the first non web based application, Crane.
I birdly recommend this company.
